Drogheda & District Chamber was delighted to offer guidance and support for an incredible fundraiser that left Drogheda on Sunday, bound for Killarney, Co Kerry.
On October 1, 2019 Paul Murphy was diagnosed with mitochondrial myopathy disease and the latest fundraiser - 'A Push for Paul' - will see a wheelchair pushed from Drogheda to the Kingdom, arriving on Saturday April 27th with a very special evening of entertainment and fun. Along the way they will stop at Trim, Tullamore, Nenagh, Adare, and Castleisland. 'A Push for Paul' will be raising money for Paul and the family and will also raise awareness for the work of the Irish Wheelchair Association and accessibility issues that wheelchair users encounter daily.
Locally based Sgt Paul Heavey has played a huge part in organising the event and prior to departure, the group had raised €103,000 with a number of local businesses helping out.
'When we first spoke to Paul about this venture some months ago, it sounded like a huge undertaking, but he and his team delivered big time. We wish them well on their journey to Killarney," Chamber President Hubert Murphy stated
