Invitation & Collaboration for Anti-Cigarette Litter Campaign 2024
As you are undoubtedly aware, cigarette litter has been an ongoing concern in our community, contributing to over two-thirds of all litter in Louth—a statistic well above the national average.
The Anti-Cigarette Litter Campaign scheduled to run from January 17th to January 30th, 2024.
The essence of our campaign is succinctly encapsulated in three key points:
Cigarette butts are plastic.
Cigarette butts are litter.
Cigarette butts belong in the bin, not on the street.
To ensure the success of this initiative, we have designed a multifaceted approach, and I would like to draw your attention to the specific involvement of your business in Item 4:
1. Signage:
The campaign message will be prominently displayed on billboards and bus shelters in Dundalk and Drogheda throughout the two-week campaign period.
2. Media:
Starting from January 17th to 24th, LMFM will broadcast a 30-second advertisement of the campaign message four times daily. A concurrent social media campaign will run in tandem with these broadcasts.
3. Cigarette Ballot Bins:
Specially designed cigarette ballot bins will be strategically placed in areas heavily affected by cigarette litter in both towns. Tidy Town Groups will also receive ballot boxes for display in their respective communities.
4. Local Business Engagement:
Volunteers, attired in cigarette costumes and carrying placards with the campaign message, will visit businesses in both towns.
Our team members from Louth County Council will accompany them. The volunteers' aim is to engage with your staff, organise a photo opportunity, and share it on our website and social media platforms, tagging your business for Love Drogheda, Dundalk BIDS and the Chamber of Commerce to amplify the message.
We will provide window stickers containing the campaign message for your business, and we sincerely hope you will support us by displaying them.
We anticipate meeting you and your staff on 19th January in Dundalk & on the 22nd of January, in Drogheda. Should you have any queries or require further information, please feel free to contact us via email at community@louthcoco.ie or by phone at 042-9392917.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and anticipated support in making our Anti-Cigarette Litter Campaign a resounding success.
Yours sincerely,
Paula Gribben
