Drogheda United manager, Kevin Doherty, was the subject of ‘Behind the Goals’ – How to be a successful manager, on and off pitch – as part of Drogheda and District Chamber’s latest networking event.
Held at the superb Prop Room in the TLT in association with partners, Coca-Cola
Drogheda, Kevin spoke about the extremes of management and what it was like to be at the helm when the local club collected the FAI Cup for the first time in almost 20 years.
In conversation with Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, Kevin gave a great insight into the modern-day game and how the likes of social media and mental health has impacted on players and how clubs and the league have worked to introduce safeguards, with the league chaplaincy service a big plus.
From his days with Liverpool to the fight to bring success to a part-time club, his story is a truly inspiring one.
“Kevin is a naturally warm character, who at the same time is passionate about his career. We have to thank him for his insight and honesty, and I know those in attendance have a new admiration for a man who wears the claret and blue with pride,” the Chamber CEO added.
“The Prop Room is a great venue to have for events like this and we thank Conor and the team and of course, Coca-Cola Drogheda, for being our partners for the event.”
