As the 2023 Boyne Valley International Film Festival fast approaches, we would love to invite local businesses in the downtown area of Drogheda to get into the spirit of things and decorate their shop fronts in a movie related theme.
We’ve had an incredible year in Irish Film, an unprecedented 13 Oscar Nominations! Winning top awards at the BAFTAS. Did you know that the short film that won the Oscar, the BAFTA and the IFTA, An Irish Goodbye, screened with us last year right before any of that happened?! We had two future Oscar winners walking the streets of Drogheda!
And it could happen again this year! We have an incredible line up planned and expect to have many of the filmmakers and actors join us for the weekend of August 11 to 13.
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the whole town rolled out the red carpet for them!
So we’re thinking of red curtains, red carpets, giant clapper boards and lights, cameras and movie posters! But you can get as creative as you like. Pick your favourite Irish movie and do a theme based on it, The Banshees of Innisherin, The Quiet Man, Wolfwalkers!
You choose.
Let’s have Drogheda role out the red carpet for our filmmakers this year!
Here are some ideas:
