Chambers Ireland has today welcomed the announcement by the European Commission of a strengthened relationship between the EU and Australia, including the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement and the establishment of a new Security and Defence Partnership.
The agreement represents a significant step in deepening the EU’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and reinforces cooperation with like-minded partners at a time of increasing global economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
The Free Trade Agreement is expected to deliver substantial benefits for European businesses, including improved market access and the removal of tariffs on the majority of exports, while also supporting stronger cooperation in areas such as raw materials.
