"Joan Martin has been part and parcel of the county at an administrative level for close to half a century. It has been an incredible period of service," Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated.

"It was fitting that such a timespan was recognised by the chamber family in the biggest town in Ireland and we wish the Chief Executive well in her retirement.

"We have seen major improvements in the infrastructure around the area and the completion of the first phase of the Northern Cross Route is something Ms Martin worked diligently on. The next couple of phases must now be delivered under new leadership and we are keen those works commence as soon as possible."

He said the opening of the new civic offices on Fair Street will be a huge addition to the people of the area.

"Drogheda is growing in so many ways and the biggest way it can advance is through hard work and commitment and as a chamber we'll be there to support progress in any way we can."
