Speaking after an Intertrade meeting in Armagh, facilitated by Joint Secretary, North South Ministerial Council, Hilary Reilly, chamber president Hubert Murphy said the need to build alliances across Northern Ireland is something that would bring huge rewards for the locality.

"Intertrade Ireland is backing initiatives in digital, sustainability, exports and innovation and Drogheda and district should be part of that. We are already engaged in the offshore wind sector and future supply chain talks and opening up new markets for our members is top of our list," he stated.

Record levels of trade between north and south are being reported with SMEs in particular being encouraged to spread their wings and avail of funding opportunities.

"The benefts of clustering amomgst like-minded areas is something we are investigating as it can reap significant benefits for communities," Hubert added.

"The event in Armagh was a great networking event and again allowed us to highlight the huge plus factors around Drogheda and we extended an invitation to the North South council to come to the town and visit the likes of Oldbridge House, which is synonymous with our nation's past."
