Drogheda’s Fleadh shortlisted for National Award

“Collaboration is the name of the game. Working together we can achieve great things for Drogheda and the M1 Region” so said Drogheda Chamber President Shona McManus this week.

She was speaking at the announcement that Drogheda and District Chamber of Commerce has been shortlisted by Chambers Ireland in the “Local Authority Collaboration Award” category for its work with Louth County Council and Drogheda Comhaltas on the 2018 Fleadh.

Commenting on the reveal of the shortlist, Siobhan Kinsella, Chambers Ireland President said,

"I am delighted to reveal the shortlist for the Chamber Awards. We in Chambers Ireland commend Drogheda and District Chamber and Chambers across the country for the brilliant work they do to support their local economies and communities.”

Drogheda and District Chamber have been deeply involved both in the bid process, with the Fleadh Executive Committee and with the delivery of the festival. Ex-President of the Chamber, and council member Eddie Phelan commented “the campaign to deliver the Fleadh for the east coast would have fallen at the first fence and could never have been realised if it wasn’t for the fantastic collaboration between Louth County Council, Drogheda Chamber of commerce, Drogheda Comhaltas and a myriad of business and community groups in the region. The ability to collaborate at this level and the realisation of what can be achieved has been astounding”

Current President Shona McManus added “I am delighted that Drogheda Chambers achievements are receiving this recognition and if successful this award will be equally an acknowledgement of Louth County Council, Drogheda Comhaltas, and all the local businesses and public contribution to the wonderful success of the Fleadh.”

The Chamber Awards winners will be announced at the official awards ceremony on 10th April at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood, Santry. The Chambers Ireland Awards highlight the outstanding work of Chambers around the country. They showcase achievements in a variety of categories, from innovative projects to successful events to collaborations with local and national government, processes which regularly go un-noticed but have a profound effect on their locality.
