Drogheda has produced many success stories in its time but can any match the incredible work of SOSAD Ireland, a trailblazer when it comes to helping people across the board.
Officially affiliated in 2007, SOSAD – Save Our Sons And Daughters – has worked tirelessly to prevent suicide and assist all who are affected by it. They provide confidential services and support for people going through suicidal ideation, self-harming, depression, bereavement, stress and anxiety.
Such a service deserves recognition and this week, Kingsbridge Private Hospital Group, in association with Drogheda and District Chamber, recognised SOSAD with an ‘Excellence in Healthcare’ award.
With six full-time offices based in Cavan, Louth, Laois, Meath and Monaghan, SOSAD is a lifesaver in the North East, offering one-to-one counselling, remote counselling and a 24/7 crisis freephone line.
With 194 counsellors who give their time for free, SOSAD is a vital outlet and to mark 20 years is seeking to add health and wellbeing education to their service range, along with a corporate responsibility scheme. Today, professional services are more than welcome to volunteer to assist with the many facets of running such a varied organisation.
Fundraising plays a significant part in keeping the lights on and all those interested in getting involved in projects are more than welcome to contact the team.
“SOSAD are helping 600 people a week across all services, so it shows their need is vital for the North East,” chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated.
Deirdre McKenny from Kingsbridge Private Hospital Group said they were delighted to honour SOSAD for their years of commitment and for being that listening voice many need in their darkest hours.

And for providing the outlet that answers so many questions before they are asked, the latest Kingsbridge Private Hospital Group ‘Excellence in Healthcare’ award, in association with Drogheda and District Chamber, goes to Four Swans Therapy and Wellness in Duleek.
Founded in 2024 by Antonia Fleeton and Helen Price, Four Swans has built its reputation by providing the highest standard in mental health care and personal well-being and as part of those ideals, they’ve launched a podcast series, Mind Your Self.
The series features industry experts, experienced practitioners, and those with lived experience. People share their insights and their experiences so that everyone can learn how to better navigate personal struggles and find a way to mind themselves.
“The podcasts tell real life stories from real life people and that’s the reason they’ve been such a success,” Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated. “Kingsbridge are great partners on this award series with us and honouring people like Helen and Antonia is what it’s all about.”
