Aside from 100% renewable electricity, there’s now another ‘green’ reason to switch. The new Flogas Plant a Tree campaign will sponsor the planting of approximately 10,000 native tree saplings, one for every new or existing customer that signs up to its electricity and natural gas Green Future tariffs throughout 2022.Flogas has partnered with Trees on the Land for the campaign, a charity and not-for-profit cross-border project that works to establish new native trees at sites in schools, sports clubs and colleges, farms, towns and community gardens on the island of Ireland. John Rooney, Managing Director, Flogas Ireland visited one of the tree planting sites in Portlaoise to meet Brian Gaynor, who coordinates the community tree planting projects at Trees on the Land.

Brian Gaynor said, “We are very pleased to welcome Flogas as a partner. Our vision is to establish tree cover and woodland in rural and urban areas that will grow for many years and provide a legacy for future generations. Partnerships with private companies that have a commitment to sustainability allows us to realise this vision”.
The Flogas-sponsored trees will be planted in the winter of 2022/23 and once grown, they will play a valuable part in absorbing carbon dioxide, improving air and soil quality as well as providing homes and food sources for a range of native species
John Rooney said, “The Plant a Tree campaign is the perfect initiative for our company, because we are committed to becoming one of Ireland’s most sustainable energy supply providers and helping our customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their home energy use”.
