Local Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd, has welcomed confirmation from the CEO of the IDA that the process supporting the construction of an Advanced Building Solution for Drogheda has commenced.
“The CEO, Martin Shanahan, stated that the building planned for Drogheda will be marketed to clients across the Financial Services, Technology, Global Services and Life Sciences sectors.”
O’Dowd said “Over the last number of years I along with a number of key stakeholders including the Drogheda Chamber and LOVE Drogheda representatives have held a number of productive meetings with the IDA to ensure that Drogheda is front and fore of any future planning policy. I was delighted to see Drogheda designated for an Advanced Building Solution in their recent published Strategy, “Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021 – 2024”.
“Separately, Amazon’s decision to locate their AWS data centre in the town has created a wave of positive energy in the Fintech sector and has put Drogheda on the international map as many high tech companies actively pursue locations in close proximity to data centres.
“This is further evidence that Drogheda is finally being recognised in national policy following its designation as centre for population and jobs growth in the National Development Plan 2040.”
