Being part of the multi billion euro trade market between Ireland, Drogheda and India was very much in focus on the 80th Indian Independence Day celebrations.
Firstly, it was an incredible honour for the Chamber to be part of the “Othorumichoru Onam 2026” event, hosted by the Drogheda Indian Recreation Club (DIRC) at the St Fechin’s GAA club in Termonfeckin.
Indian culture is one of open arms and warm smiles and many of those in the room play a vital role across Drogheda, from the health service to IT, the hospitality industry and many more sectors. A number work in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, a major employer in the North East and an asset that will grow and grow in the years to come.
Later in the day it was great to meet with Ambassador Manish Gupta and Mrs Nimeesha Gupta and the team at the embassy as they hosted a special occasion at India House in Foxrock.
With Vice President, Jasmine Mathew, Office Manager, Irene McKeown and CEO, Hubert Murphy, Drogheda Chamber was out in force, meeting business leaders and promoting the Drogheda region as a place to live, work and play.
One of those the Chamber met was Dr Jasbir Singh Puri, who was based at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital for many years.
