Drogheda and District Chamber met with the Cathaoirleach of the Laytown/Bettystown Municipal Council, Cllr Paddy Meade, to discuss a number of issues relating to south Louth and East Meath as part of the chamber’s community inclusion programme.
“Drogheda and District Chamber has members from across the region and we want to assist them in every way possible. To achieve that, we want to work with local government representatives as well as council bodies,” Chamber CEO Hubert Murphy stated.
Issues such as the water supply in Duleek and the need for more job opportunities in East Meath were some of the matters raised, along with acknowledging the immense work done by the local authority and other stakeholders in the area.
“It’s about working as a team to get the best results and we plan to engage further with officials in the coming months. The opportunities in this district are huge,” he added.
Cllr Meade remarked: “The business community around Duleek, Donore and Bettystown will welcome the assistance of the chamber. There is a lot we can do and I’d like to see a business park near Colpe and a goal in the County Development Plan, a new bridge over the Boyne, to serve south Drogheda and East Meath and connected to the Duleek junction on the M1, pushed along.”
