Where did the idea come from?
I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur, my father had his own business here in Drogheda so it’s most definitely in the blood!
How has the business had a positive impact on Drogheda?
I train staff in food safety and have worked with many food companies, restaurants, hotels, take-aways, etc in Drogheda and beyond. Staff are legally obliged to have this training, so I would like to think that I have facilitated all of the different food businesses both locally and beyond in this way.
What do you think has been your biggest achievement with the business?
We just celebrated our five year anniversary in March 2019 and this was a real achievement in my view. It was kindly covered in the Drogheda Independent newspaper too, so a big thank you to Hubert Murphy and the team there.
What’s next for Elite Food Solutions and the business in Drogheda?
In the last 18 months the business has grown exponentially and with food safety being quite a ‘niche’ business, I would not only like to maintain this current growth but to look at other areas of development. These will include additional training being offered based on new focus areas, collaboration with some other food safety advisers, etc.
Tell us one thing people might not know about the business ?
Elite Food Solutions was founded in March 2014, their office is based in The Mill, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The services offered are training (HACCP/Food safety), food safety auditing, consultancy work and mentoring work with the local Enterprise office’s ( registered in Louth, Meath, Cavan & Monaghan).
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
Know your market and up skill and adapt to any new trends/focus areas in food safety to ensure that you’re up to date and relevant at all times. Being stagnant is the death knell for any business.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
