As part of our Membership Spotlight feature we recently spoke to Michael Gerrard from Michael Gerrard Media about doing business in Drogheda. Read what Michael had to say.
Tell us about your business and what you do.
I have been involved in the Media Industry since 1985. Over that time I have been involved in Radio, Tv, Journalist, Graphic Design, Digital Marketing and Consultant. All this is under Communications and Marketing.
I’m responsible for the development and supervision of all marketing and communications strategies for a business. I oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns.
What do you think has been your biggest achievement with the business?
Surviving as long as I have. This business is brutal, one has to keep ahead. If I just stuck with radio I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have, you have to reinvent yourself.
Also I have made so many contacts over the last 40 years and that is also down to my success. I can’t believe it’s 40 years. I remember the first day I set foot in a radio station when I was 15!
Tell us one thing people might not know about the business.
I work by myself, I have no team behind me and I work from home! A client of mine had 2 national brands that I managed and was thrilled with the work I had done. She said “You and your team has done a fantastic job.” I said what team?
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
Every time you get knocked down, get back up again.
