On Friday, 30 May and Friday, 20 June, four popular local cafés – The Coffee Box, IL Forno, Loaf’d, and The Bare Food Company – will stay open late into the night as part of Night Moves, a new innovative cultural programme led and produced by Droichead Arts Centre, curated by singer/songwriter, SJ McArdle, in collaboration with Drogheda’s Night-Time Economy Adviser and supported by the Drogheda Purple Flag group.
Each venue will host a free, curated evening of live music, poetry, spoken word, and good conversation – creating welcoming, relaxed spaces where people can enjoy the town in a different way. These cafés are championing a more diverse night-time offer and helping trial what a more balanced evening economy might look like. Artists include dynamic poet, and spoken word artist, Dagogo Hart; Irish singer/actor and musician Edel Murphy, accompanied by musician Ewan Cowley, traditional fiddle player and singer Róisín Ward Morrow, and accomplished folk songwriter and singer Caimin Hall. Bookings on the Droichead website, but they also encourage audiences to drop in on the night!
Produced by Droichead Arts Centre and delivered with various curators, promoters & alternative venues, supported and funded by the Night-Time Economy Advisor in Drogheda and the Arts Council. The programme encapsulates a vision of extending cultural offerings, fostering partnerships, & creating diverse opportunities for artists & audiences.
