Re-Opening of Tourism & Hospitality Businesses

Fáilte Ireland can help cover your costs

August 20th

Today, Fáilte Ireland is launching the COVID-19 Adaptation Fund for the Re-Opening of Tourism & Hospitality Businesses to help businesses that are implementing its Guidelines for Re-opening. Full information on the Fund is available here.

The Adaptation Fund contributes towards costs incurred and offers help in one of two ways:

  • Strand A assists businesses with fixed, visitor-facing premises that have made structural adaptations. OR
  • Strand B helps businesses without significant visitor-facing premises such as activity/experience providers and some accommodation providers. In this case, the Fund contributes towards the cost of COVID-19 related consumables such as sanitiser or Personal Protective Equipment.

Businesses are eligible for either Strand A or Strand B: maximum grant amounts available depend on the type and size of your business and the costs you have incurred.

What you must do to qualify

To qualify for an Adaptation Fund grant, your tourism business must:

  • be an eligible business as defined in the Adaptation Fund Guidelines and Terms & Conditions. Details of these can be found here
  • be open or, if currently closed due to a Government mandate, have already been open in line with the Government’s Roadmap for Re-opening Business and Society
  • commit to opening for a minimum period – this depends on the nature of your business
  • comply fully with Fáilte Ireland’s Guidelines for Re-opening
  • have completed the Fáilte Ireland COVID-19 Safety Charter.

If you can answer ‘yes’ to these requirements, you can apply. Before doing so, please review the Adaptation Fund’s Guidelines and Terms & Conditions here.

How to apply

If you have a Trade Portal account, the application form can be found under ‘Available Funding’. The COVID-19 Safety Charter is also available in your account under ‘COVID-19’.

If you don’t have a Trade Portal account, please use the Pre-Eligibility Checklist here to sign up for one.

The Fund is open from now until 8 October 2020. We expect a high volume of enquiries and applications and will process these as quickly as possible.
