Cup finals are great occasions and even better when you defy the odds to lift a first ever senior trophy.

And so was the scenario for our latest Fairstone Ireland/Drogheda and District Chamber ‘Sporting Heroes’ – namely Sean Brennan and the team at Drogheda Town FC
Our Chamber Members created history when they beat John Bosco’s 4-3 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. It began with a long range strike from goalkeeper Luke Haggans and the game was a real rollercoaster, going all the way to extra time and spot kicks. Even then, Drogheda Town looked to be in real trouble, having missed two kicks, but they rescued the day in sudden death.
Sean Brennan’s third year at the club has brought just reward and the Marian Park side is looking to a bright future ahead.
“It was great to recognise the efforts of the club this year, in association with Fairstone Ireland. These awards honour true endeavour and resilience and the 2025/26 Polikoff Cup summed that up,” Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated.
Our thanks to Francis McTaggart and the Fairstone Ireland team for backing these awards.
