We recently had a chat with Tamara Howard and we were asking her about doing Business in Drogheda?
Where did your business idea come from?
The idea for Tamara Howard Communications came from my conversations with business owners and management teams who were completely overwhelmed by having to run a business on one hand but keep up with ever-changing marketing techniques on the other. I wanted to work with these fantastic businesses to Smash the Marketing Enigma and deliver powerful, strategic marketing and communications solutions to market.
How has the business had a positive impact on Drogheda and District?
Drogheda is a burgeoning epicentre for some truly exciting commercial activities, and I believe that over the next 5 – 10 years we are going to experience a huge sea change in Drogheda & its district. Tamara Howard Communications is working to elevate the businesses who are going to be fundamental in this sea change, and that, to me, is fascinating and exciting.
What do you think has been your biggest achievement with the business?
A driving KPI for Tamara Howard Communications is ensuring that my Clients are thrilled with the service and end product, every time, no exceptions. As a new business this is a lofty aim, so my biggest achievement has been the numerous referrals and recommendations I have received from my early Clients. So yes, I’d have to say that my biggest professional achievement is the continuous great relationships I have nurtured with my Clients in my early days in business.
What’s next for Tamara Howard Communications and the business in Drogheda?
Right now, the sky’s the limit! I am extremely ambitious and energetically pursuing my business goal to scale Tamara Howard Communications over the next 5 years. My plan is to grow, at pace, aligning with a team of the finest marketers and designers to serve businesses in the Drogheda & District area. But for now, August 2020 will see the one-year mark for my new enterprise, and I am excited to meet that milestone. And I hope to see you all in Odd Mollies in August to mark the occasion!
Tell us one thing people might not know about your Company.
My glasses logo is true to life as I am blind as a bat! When I started out, I knew that as a new business I needed a branding device which was memorable and would act as a short cut into someone’s imagination when they are flicking through piles of business cards. I needed to cut through! My glasses are always with me, so it made perfect sense that I should use them to set myself apart. Plus, it has the added benefit that I am now saving a fortune on contact lenses! I had great fun as my own first client, tweaking and adjusting until I found what worked. Now I adore my branding because it is truly personal and allows me to be the face of my company in a way that creates real impact.
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
Two little words…Show Up.
Show Up for your business; energetically pursuing your day’s activities. Show Up for your Clients; honouring their investment in your business as if it was your own. Show Up for your community; proudly remembering that your business is part of the fabric of a wider tapestry. Show Up for your family and friends; work should always be your part-time gig, even if it takes up more hours. Show Up for yourself; with respect and nurturing your own needs as your #1 stakeholder. If you do one thing each day, it’s to consciously and intentionally Show Up for the things you do.
