Drogheda and District Chamber and Tredagh Lodge Day Care Centre are delighted to partner in a new ‘Community Memories’ initiative, which will form part of the campaign to make Drogheda a ‘Dementia Inclusive Community’.
The Chamber will provide the materials to spark memories of Drogheda down the years, through images and stories, as part of the excellent work done by Tredagh Lodge to help those with dementia in the wider community.
“The Chamber is 130 years old this year and we wanted to mark that by partnering with Tredagh Lodge to provide this new scheme. Drogheda and its hinterland have changed much down the years and for those attending the day care service, this will be a chance to look back over the years and hopefully spark fond memories,” chamber CEO Hubert Murphy stated.
“We will be looking to bring chamber members into the scheme as it develops and perhaps introduce football and GAA memories too.
“The Chamber is all about inclusion and the cross over between business and community is special to us and our members.”
Gerry Leydon from Tredagh Lodge said they were delighted to be part of the project and feel such programmes are of huge benefit to those with dementia.
“A key part of what we do is to link in with business and community and sporting clubs. Clients identify with these things, and it can be a great engaging experience.”
