When tradition, sport and community come together, the result is always special, so much so, that one partnership has been deemed worthy of a richly deserved award.

The Drogheda Road Bowls club has been on the go for about three decades, Sunday mornings spent on the Baltray Road, a dedicated bunch promoting an ancient art and making sure it will be part of the community for years to come.
The club has always boxed above its weight when it comes to major honours and it's incredible to see the number of champions produced down the years.
However, last year, during a finals day, tragedy struck when a person attending suffered a sudden illness and passed away.
The club and the community were united in grief.
Recently, the club members and the community gathered again on the Boyne Road to unveil a defibrillator that will be housed on the wall of a home at Queensboro.
As part of the Drogheda and District Chamber and BD 'Community Champions' series, the bowls club accepted an award for their outstanding contribution to the community. If ever an honour was deserved, this was it.
Thanks to BD for backing local and backing community and delivering a scheme that encapsulates the true spirit of Drogheda and its people.
