RPS Group to develop Active Travel measures along R166 Northern Cross & R168 Colon Road RPS

RPS have been commissioned to provide the engineering and consultancy services required to deliver the proposed Drogheda Active Travel Schemes through Stages 2 to 5 of the NTA Project Approval Guidelines, including Concept, Development and Options Design, Preliminary Design Stage, Statutory Processes & Planning Consents Stage and the Detailed Design, Tender, Evaluation and Award Stage.
The core objective of the project is to improve Active Travel facilities and to develop safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly infrastructures for road users of all types to access Drogheda town centre, transport hubs, schools and other local amenities. The schemes integrate with the overall active travel policy for Drogheda town and Louth County Development Plan 2021-2027. The schemes will involve upgrade and development of walking/cycling facilities along the following existing routes, which can be seen on the enclosed Scheme Location Maps:
o LHCC/21/005 R168 Collon Rd & R166 Northern Cross Route
o LHCC/21/008 R132 Dublin Rd
This non-statutory consultation is aimed at collecting feedback and information on any constraints in relation to these schemes that the design team should be made aware of for the development of scheme options and an emerging preferred option. All submissions are welcomed, and details will be considered by the design team when further developing the schemes.
The design team will present the emerging preferred scheme options and be on hand to answer questions and queries at a non-statutory Public Consultation Event in Drogheda Library from 3pm to 7pm on Thursday 22nd February 2024, which will also be advertised in mainstream and social media.
