Congratulations to Chamber Member Gerry Fagen, Chairman for Reserva da Luz, Portugal.
On Friday, 28th November 2025 in Vilamoura during this year’s Chambers’ Algarve Gala Dinner, the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, together with the British Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Portugal, proudly presented Gerry Fagan with a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising not only his exceptional contributions to Portugal’s real estate and leisure sectors over the past two decades but also his more than 50-year association with the country—a journey spanning professional endeavors, personal connections, and enduring dedication to the Portuguese community.

A constant and influential presence in the Portuguese property market since the early 2000s, Gerry Fagan has played a central role in shaping the Algarve and the wider Portuguese landscape into one of Europe’s most desirable destinations for investment, leisure, and living.
During his leadership across a range of businesses including the Oceânico Group and DDM, Gerry Fagan has been instrumental in creating and enhancing some of Portugal’s most iconic resorts and communities. His landmark projects include Amendoeira Golf Resort, the five Vilamoura golf courses, Royal Óbidos, Belmar Spa & Beach Resort and Jardim da Meia Praia.
Currently, Gerry Fagan is leading the development of Reserva da Luz, a premium oceanfront community in Lagos that reflects his continued passion for quality design, sustainability, and a deep respect for the environment and local culture. Looking ahead to 2026, he is set to launch a new wave of residential and mixed-use developments that promise to raise the bar once again for excellence in Portuguese real estate and leisure sectors.
Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, commented:
“As General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, I’m truly delighted to recognise Gerry Fagan with our Lifetime Achievement Award, thanks to his incredible contribution to the real estate and golf sectors in Portugal. Having seen first-hand the impact of his work over the years, I know just how much his vision and dedication have shaped the Algarve, and Portugal more widely, into a place that continues to capture the hearts of British visitors, investors, and residents. From the development of the Oceânico Group to his current work at Reserva da Luz, Gerry’s developments have always combined quality with a deep respect for the surrounding community and environment.
“But Gerry’s contribution goes far beyond the buildings and golf courses he’s brought to life. As a longtime member of both the Portuguese Chamber in the UK and the British Chamber in Portugal, he has played a huge role in strengthening the long-standing connection between Portugal and the UK—helping to build not just homes and resorts, but lasting relationships and shared opportunities. His passion for Portugal, its people, and its future is evident in everything he does. It’s an honour to celebrate him not only as a respected developer, but as a valued friend of both Chambers and as a true ambassador for all that makes this country so special. Congratulations, Gerry, this award couldn’t be more deserved.”
The Chambers’ Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates individuals whose work has significantly influenced the growth, reputation, and sustainable development of Portugal’s business landscape. Gerry Fagan’s enduring commitment to excellence and innovation continues to inspire future generations of investors and developers both in Portugal and abroad.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this Lifetime Achievement Award from the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK and the British Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Portugal.
When I first came to Portugal over 50 years ago, I was captivated by its natural beauty, welcoming people, and enormous potential. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many talented professionals, local partners, and communities who share the same passion for creating places that bring people together and celebrate the best of Portuguese living.
From the early days with Oceânico through to our current work at DDM and Reserva da Luz, my goal has always been to contribute positively to the Algarve’s growth—balancing quality development with care for the environment and respect for the unique character of this region.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to both Chambers, my colleagues, and most of all my family, who have all been part of this journey. Portugal has given me far more than I could ever give back, and I look forward to continuing to build on that legacy in the years to come.” Gerry Fagen
