Warrior, captain, fearless, leader. Those attributes justa bout sum up our latest Flogas/Drogheda and District Chamber ‘Sporting Hero’ – the St Fechin’s ladies GAA star, Orla McEvoy.

She has helped guide her team through an incredible period that saw the club create new and lasting memories for decades to come. The ‘team of ‘25’ will be forever etched in history.
The season began with countless training sessions that helped deliver a memorable Louth SFC title.
After that, came more glory, this time a first Leinster title, beating the Kildare champions in the final after extra time.
Then British champions, Holloway Gaels, were humbled, but a chance of an All-Ireland final ending with a one point loss to the Galway king pins in the semi.
Through it all, Orla McEvoy led with courage and determination, epitomised by her Leinster final showing, ending the game with a bandaged head and a closed eye!
“It was an incredible year for the Fechins and Orla was a key part of it. They gave a community one amazing journey and here’s to a repeat showing in 2026,” Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated. “Thanks to Flogas for their loyal support for these awards.”
