A group of local business, tourism and community organisations along with TDs Fergus O’Dowd and Ged Nash met Taoiseach Simon Harris at Leinster House to discuss the setting up of a taskforce style body for the greater Drogheda area.
The Taoiseach's Office will now engage with the local authority in a bid to advance the idea.
In a joint statement, the local group, that included Drogheda BID, Drogheda and District Chamber and Drogheda City Status, said that the meeting was 'positive in all aspects' and they were greatly encouraged by the engagement.
'The local authority, the officials and our councillors and TDs – along with other community stakeholders - will be vital to the success of this taskforce and we look forward to working with them on a new era for greater Drogheda.”
Hubert Murphy, CEO of Drogheda and District Chamber, said that the future of the town is incredibly bright and working with all the interested parties is something they would relish.
