We recently had a chat with Michael Gerrard and we were asking him about doing Business in Drogheda?
Where did the idea come from?
After working in the Radio Industry since 1985, I decided to do something different in 2005. ! worked as a freelance journalist and then worked for a local newspaper. During this time I discovered Twitter and got hooked. I thought to myself I wonder how all these people have time to post on Social Media while running their business, I could do that for them! I had made many contacts over the years and contacted a couple of them about managing their Twitter accounts and that’s how it all started. My very first client was Gavin Duffy who was on Dragons Den at the time and from that I got to manage Eamonn Quinn’s Twitter account, I then started working with other companies and business.
How has the business had a positive impact on Drogheda?
I would like to think so. I have managed some businesses over the last five years who are based in Drogheda. I am currently looking after Murtaghs in Fairgreen in Drogheda. I had them trending Number one in the country. It’s very important for any business to have an on line presence on Social Media. You would be very surprised how many people who would travel to Drogheda to do business with these companies. It’s a great platform to promote Drogheda Business on such a large platform as well as Facebook.
What do you think has been your biggest achievement with the business?
I would say my biggest achievement is working with so many people from many different backgrounds, national brands or business from the Drogheda area and building great relationships and helping to get them results.
What next for Michael Gerrard Media?
To continue promoting Drogheda and local business as much as I can and come up with engaging content to make people stop and look. I’m always looking for interesting projects to work on, I have done garages, restaurants, DIY, hair and beauty, fuel, farm machinery, entertainment so I’m looking forward to the next challenge.
Tell us one thing people might not know about the business?
I’m a one man band and work from home. The reason why I say this is that a client was happy with me and my team! I said what team?
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
Never stop chasing your dreams.
I’ve been very lucky from the age of 16 that I have worked in radio and still do a small part, which I have always wanted to do since hearing Radio Luxemburg and Radio Nova (The Pirate). Sometimes you step back for and bit and give yourself a new challenge or re invent yourself, which I have done with Michael Gerrard Media. If you don’t take a chance you will never know if it would have worked out or not!
