At 10 years of age, he walked into the cauldron of a Mixed Martial Arts class at Drogheda’s SBG for the first time. Three years later, he is the champion of Europe. So, who better than Dayne Breen Crowley - Mr Worldwide - to accept our latest Flogas/Drogheda and District Chamber ‘Sporting Hero’ award.

An extraordinary young man with a rare gift, Dayne was the toast of St Mary’s DS when he returned from the European finals with a gold medal, his sights now set on the World finals in Abu Dhabi later this year.
His dedication is incredible, three hours of training six days a week. It would be seven days, but the gym is closed!
True champions in this sport probably peak around 30, so he has plenty of time to make a mark on the ultimate stage.
His nickname is ‘Mr Worldwide’ – landing with him after his tornado kick in a match was caught on video and went worldwide, with millions of views.
Very much down to earth, his goal is to keep competing and keep winning and continue to put the sport and Drogheda on the map.
Our thanks to Flogas for backing these community awards and honouring people of all ages and all sports from this region
