The latest recipients of the Flogas Ireland/Drogheda and District Chamber ‘Sporting Heroes’ award is the all-conquering Drogheda Girls FC team.

The pride of the town, the girls team has claimed up to a dozen trophies in a trailblazing few seasons, having started out as a panel of enthusiastic players a decade ago.
With Graham Campbell the driving force off the field, the team has delivered on the biggest occasions, winning several leagues and becoming provincial kingpins.
Their success has inspired the birth of half a dozen more girls teams at the club.
Having just returned from a tournament in Milan, they are now intent on more honours in the years to come.
The key to their success is friendship – with much of the squad together for many years.
“It was great to learn about the bond that the team has and how that has been their pathway to success,” Dermot Lee from sponsors, Flogas, stated.
Hubert Murphy, CEO, Drogheda and District Chamber, added, “Amy and Megan were the ambassadors for the panel for the presentation and summed up the team in many ways, professional, dedicated and inspirational.”
