Sporting Heroes - Grace Conway

It’s not too often you climb into the boxing ring with a nine-time Irish boxing champion – and escape without a scratch!

Thankfully, the meet up with Grace Conway was very amicable, as we were doing the latest Drogheda and District Chamber/Flogas ‘Sporting Heroes’ award to the teenager who has her sights set on a place at the Olympic Games in 2028 or 2032.

And there is no doubt she is well capable of achieving that goal as her desire to stay at the top of the sport is obvious to see.

Grace has been an inspiration to everyone at the Tredagh Boxing Club, based at the home of our chamber member, An Grianan, in Termonfeckin.

Not only did she win Irish titles this year, but captained her school, Scoil Ui Mhuiri, Dunleer, to the Leinster GAA title.

A star on the European stage as well, Grace epitomises what the Flogas sponsored awards are all about, dedication, courage, and leadership.

Grace Conway – trailblazer.

Grace follows GAA star Sam Mulroy and Drogs football ace Ryan Brennan as winners so far.
